What is a Subject Access Request?

You have the right to ask an organisation whether or not they are using or storing your personal information. You can also ask them for copies of your personal information, verbally or in writing.

This is called the right of access and is commonly known as making a subject access request or SAR.

How we get your information and what we use it for

Your information helps protect you and us from fraud. It also helps us check it’s really you. We may ask you to consider using other identification methods like biometrics (your fingerprint or voice).

We collect your information in different ways, like:

Collecting basic information such as name, address and phone number

From third party companies (such as other NatWest Group companies, credit reference agencies, public sources, fraud prevention, government agencies or third parties who provide to you or us).

We use your information in different ways, such as:

Using your health information to help you access our services more easily, like sending statements in Braille if you need it.

Sharing information about criminal activity with other organisations to stop and detect crime, and to obey laws relating to money laundering, fraud, and terrorist financing

Accessing your data

When you request a SAR we will provide you with any of your personal data that we are processing. The more specific you are about what you are looking for the more quickly and effectively we can respond to your request.

Examples of personal information that you can request:

The contact information we hold on file for you

Copies of documents used to identify you

Application forms

Complaints or Customer Service notes

Correspondence that we have sent to you,

Telephone call recordings

In some situations a SAR is not the best way for you to request access to your data. For these items there is a better way in which to receive the information you require:

Bank Statements

You can request bank statements via our online form.

Erasure Requests

In certain circumstances, you may want to ask us to delete information that we hold about you.

There are some occasions when we may not be able to delete your personal information for legal, regulatory or technical reasons.

Account records are normally kept for 7 years after a relationship with Ulydien DAC ends, whilst other records can be retained for shorter periods. Retention periods may be changed from time to time based on business or legal and regulatory requirements.

Please do not complete a new SAR request. Please refer any queries / complaints to SAR Customer queries.

Before you submit your Subject Access Request

A subject access request is not a document retrieval process and should not be used as a substitute for legal discovery. It is for the provision of personal data only.

A subject access request does not provide the following:

Non personal information:

Commercial information relating to the Bank
Terms and Conditions
Banking information for businesses– information about limited companies, limited liability partnerships or Scottish partnerships is not personal information. Information about a company as an entity is not personal data.

Information in relation to bereavements:

Information in relation to a deceased person would not be provided as this process only applies to living individuals.

Information in relation to other individuals:

Information in relation to another individual, including spouse, business partners, suspected fraudsters or members of staff, as the right is to the individual’s personal information, not another person’s information.
